Paint correction, explained
Paint correction means machine-polishing the clear coat to physically remove a thin layer of damaged finish, taking swirl marks, light scratches, and oxidation with it. How many stages that takes depends on the car. Lighter swirling usually comes out in a single cutting-and-polishing pass; paint in worse shape needs a cutting stage followed by a refining polish. We assess the paint on arrival and tell you what it needs before we start.
This is the fundamental difference between the Platinum and everything below it. Wax makes existing paint look better temporarily; correction changes the paint's actual condition. Once swirls are polished out, they're gone until new ones are introduced.
The deep interior and steam treatment
The Platinum's interior work goes past the Signature's shampoo. Steam reaches into vents, seams, seat stitching, and the tight spots around consoles and trim, and it sanitizes as it cleans. For lingering odors — smoke, pets, milk, anything that has had time to settle in — steam is meaningfully more effective than extraction alone.
We also handle headlight restoration on this package, clearing the yellowing and hazing that builds on older lenses and genuinely affects how well they throw light at night.
When to choose Platinum over a coating
Choose the Platinum Detail when you want the car to look its best now and don't need years of protection locked in. Choose a ceramic coating when you want that corrected finish preserved long-term.
Worth knowing: both ceramic coating packages already include paint correction as part of the prep. If a coating is somewhere on your list, booking a Platinum Detail first means paying for correction twice. In that case, going straight to the 3-Year or 5-Year Coating is the better value, and we'll tell you so.
Best for
- Paint with visible swirls, scratches, or oxidation
- Stubborn interior odors that need steam
- Cars that have been neglected for a while
